Position Overview

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Assistant Controller is responsible for the daily accounting operations of the organization, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Month End Close Procedures and Financial Reporting. The Assistant Controller ensures accuracy in financial reporting and compliance with control procedures, supporting the organization's overall success.

Key Responsibilities

•    Oversees and reviews the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization, including accounts payable and accounts receivable functions and personnel
•    Manages cashflow, ensuring adequate funds are available to meet financial obligations; completes routine bank transactions
•    Completes month end close procedures, including journal entries and account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, GST/HST remittances, etc.
•    Prepares monthly financial statements and variance analysis for multiple business units
•    Resolves accounting discrepancies and maintains an orderly accounting filing system
•    Supervises accounts payable and accounts receivable staff members
•    Performs other accounting tasks and reconciliations as required
•    Participates and supports ongoing continuous improvement projects
•    Other duties as assigned from time-to-time

Qualifications

•    Post secondary degree or diploma in accounting required
•    Proven and progressive experience with full cycle accounting would be an asset (3-5 years)
•    Ability to travel on a quarterly basis
•    Experience working with Accounting Software, Business Central experience is considered an asset
•    Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office Suite
•    Proven organization skills and an ability to prioritize
•    Proven team player, able to maintain a positive attitude and flexible approach under pressure
