Job Summary: 
The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager is responsible for leading Health, Safety and Environmental programs and management framework across all manufacturing and distribution sites in Canada and the United States. This leadership role will shape and execute the corporate HSE strategy, drive the standardization of processes, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate policies in both Canada and the USA, and foster a strong safety culture excellence across all sites. This incumbent will lead the full implementation and management of COR certification in Canada and ISO 45001 compliance in the USA, owning all aspects of the accreditation process, including coordination with external auditors to achieve and maintain successful certification across all sites. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with site-level operations, engineering, maintenance, and leadership teams to ensure best-in-class HSE practices, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across all facilities. This role requires a strong technical and operational background in industrial health, safety and environmental management, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to influence and partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

Job Responsibilities:
•    Provide strategic leadership for Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) across all manufacturing and distribution sites in Canada and the USA, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
•    Own the vision and long-term strategy for Health, Safety and Environment, including setting performance goals, key metrics, and data reporting structures for multiple sites.
•    Lead the development and implementation of corporate-wide Health, Safety and Environment programs, adapting them to local site requirements while ensuring standardization and regulatory compliance.
•    Oversee COR certification in Canada and ISO 45001 compliance in the USA, including audits, continuous improvement initiatives, and executive reporting.
•    Lead the integration of Health, Safety and Environmental management systems and practices during mergers and acquisitions by ensuring regulatory compliance, technical alignment, and a seamless transition of standards between entities, while identifying and implementing best practices from all sites to optimize safety performance, reduce risks, and enhance the safety culture.
•    Collaborate with senior leadership, operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to integrate Health, Safety and Environmental considerations into business decisions, capital projects, and operational changes.
•    Lead the risk management strategy across all sites, including hazard identification, assessment of high-risk gaps, development and implementation of mitigation plans and controls to proactively reduce potential exposures and ensure safer operations.
•    Serve as a trusted HSE advisor to leadership in Canada and the U.S., offering expertise in regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, sustainability, and corporate HSE program development to support business objectives.
•    Design and implement Health, Safety and Environment training programs, coaching employees, supervisors, and managers to drive accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement across all sites.
•    Mentor and develop site Operations leaders to enhance HSE accountability, capability, and engagement across all organizational levels.
•    Chair and advise on multi-site Health and Safety Committees, promoting best practices, sharing learnings, and driving a consistent safety culture across all operations.
•    Oversee incident reporting, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions, ensuring timely reporting to regulatory authorities and internal claims processes.
•    Maintain awareness of changes in legislation, industry standards, and emerging risks, implementing proactive measures to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
•    Provide regular reporting to executive leadership and the Board on Health, Safety, and Environment performance, trends, risks, and improvement plans, supporting data-driven decision-making.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
•    Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in health, safety and environmental management, preferably in industrial or manufacturing environments.
•    Strong knowledge of Canadian Occupational Health and Safety legislation, including provincial requirements and U.S. OSHA regulations, including applicable state-level occupational health and safety requirements.
•    Strong knowledge of and hands-on experience with COR certification in Canada and ISO 45001 implementation and compliance in the USA across multi-site operations.
•    CSP / CRSP certification preferred.
•    Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as 5S, Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen in a safety context.
•    Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills across all levels of the organization.
•    High degree of initiative, problem-solving ability, and resilience under pressure.
•    Skilled in leading change initiatives and implementing process improvements while maintaining focus on results and operational excellence.
•    Willingness and ability to travel to manufacturing and distribution sites in Canada and United States.
